Welcome to the Association of Charity Independent Examiners (ACIE)
ACIE was launched in 1999 as an association for people who carry out IE -to give support to independent examiners and to provide information relevant to their examination work. Since that time, it has also become a national voice in influencing policies with regard to government legislation. Its activities have the support of the Charity Commission.
ACIE has approximately 600 members who cut across the whole range of people who carry out independent examination - from volunteers who are competent enough to examine the accounts of, say, their local youth group, to professional accountants in major national firms.
Membership of ACIE
ACIE offers two levels of membership - Associate and Full. Associate Membership is open to anyone interested in independent examination who is willing to adhere to the ACIE Code of Ethics.
ACIE is the only body whose sole focus is Independent Examination and its Full Membership procedure is the only route available to people wanting to have their work in Independent Examination scrutinised and validated.
Full Members are entitled to use one of three professional designations - LCIE, MCIE or FCIE - which also determine the threshold to which they can examine charity accounts. Full Members are subject to regulation by ACIE.
